Pete's Log: I Keep Thinking About RSS

Entry #2415, (Coding, Hacking, & CS stuff)
(posted when I was 45 years old.)

I complained a few months ago that I'd rather have an RSS feed than an email newsletter. And that thought evolved a few days ago into the idea that maybe I could build some sort of email-to-RSS gateway. Shortly thereafter I remembered I don't often have unique ideas, so I had a little search and found there are several projects out there doing exactly this, such as Kill the Newsletter!

Cool. And it feels like perhaps RSS is in the Zeitgeist (at least among my demographic), since yesterday Read Later in Feedbin showed up in my RSS reader. Not only is the main topic similar to another RSS idea that's been occupying my thoughts, it also mentions funneling email newsletters to Feedbin.

I'm not terribly familiar with Feedbin and I like having my RSS reader self-hosted. But I am not alone in my RSS thoughts. Going to let them stew some more.
