Pete's Log: tortillas

Entry #1796, (Cooking)
(posted when I was 37 years old.)

Today, Jamie and I made flour tortillas from scratch: flour, lard, water and salt.

I used a new kitchen scale to weigh the flour instead of measuring it by volume, and that was exciting. But then I somehow managed to mess up the water by adding almost twice as much as I was supposed to. I managed to salvage it by adding more flour and lard.

The tortillas turned out pretty tasty. I think we'll definitely be making more. And with practice, plus following the recipe correctly, I think they'll get even better.
