Pete's Log: woobity woob

Entry #1618, (Random Crap)
(posted when I was 30 years old.)

I'm currently in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, England. I arrived Wednesday morning. Monday I heard news that London had been shut down by the biggest snow storm it had seen in nearly 20 years.

Luckily my flight on Wednesday got here without delay. I was quite surprised to find much less snow on the ground than I had expected. Given how much had shut down, I'd been expecting upwards of a foot of snow. Nowhere did I see more than an inch or two. Silly England.

My laptop has a wider-than-usual screen. Its resolution is 1280x800 pixels. It's nice to have the extra space (e.g. compared to 1024x768), but it often feels kind of short. I finally decided to move my windows task bar to the side of the screen instead of the bottom, since that seemed a more efficient way to take advantage of the added real estate.

At first I tried the left side of the screen. But I didn't like not having the clock at the bottom right. So now the task bar has been on the right side of my screen for the past three days. I think I'm happy with this solution, but I'm still getting used to it. The remaining space certainly seems to have a better aspect ratio than the space left over when the task bar was on the bottom.

I forgot to pack my mouse. Stupid touchpad.

Note to self: add GMT as timezone. Retimezoneify this entry. Finally make adding timezones something that can be done via UI.
