Pete's Log: time flies

Entry #1467, (Life in General)
(posted when I was 28 years old.)

Now that I've gotten to feeling comfortable at work, I've been trying to get back into my habit of wearing Hawaiian shirts on Fridays. I was pretty good about doing it during my post-Meg time at netViz, but have only remembered to do it twice so far at amasol. Perhaps I'll stick a reminder on my door. :)

Two entries today, and both use the phrase "post-Meg." The amazing thing about the post-Meg phase of my life is that more than half of it has now been spent in Germany. I'm reaching the nine-month mark, which is just incredible.

amasol has also hired a new techie, so I will no longer be the newest employee.

I'm working on making my log be more timezone-friendly. Right now, all entry times are recorded in Central Standard Time, which is actually seven hours behind my current time. This messes with statistics and I'd just prefer entries to show local time rather than CST. It's complexicated. Entries up until the middle of 2003 are stored in straight-up EST (UTC-5:00), whereas entries since then are stored in CST/CDT (UTC-6:00/UTC-5:00). These all need to be converted to GMT timestamps.

I've already gone through and marked the local timezone of all entries (just marking everything before 2003 as EST, even though I did write the occasional entry from CO and elsewhere).

There's also the issue that all entries before Entry 109 don't have a time component, but only a date. So all my fixes need to take this into account (I was tempted to use the German word berücksichtigen). But I've done enough for tonight. Worry about the rest later.
